How to get the government to pay for (some of) your bike

Basically it works like this: You choose a bike, hire it for an agreed amount of time, then pay it off in small, manageable salary deductions. There’s plenty more information on the Cyclescheme website but here’s a breakdown of how to sign up and start riding.

It’s a good day to call United Kingdom home. The Cycle to Work scheme is a government initiative created to encourage people to get riding. It allows you to save up to 40% on bikes and cycling accessories, without paying anything upfront — instead the payments are taken from your salary by your employer. So you get your dream set up without having to crack open your piggy bank.
